Privacy Policy
Effective 2025-01-01
Summary
This Privacy Policy explains how Opine Technologies Inc. ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website and mobile applications (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy.
Scope
This Policy applies to our consumer Service available on web, iOS, and Android. The Service enables you to record and organize life context and interact with an AI council through that context. Limited anonymous/guest use is supported. This Policy does not cover third-party websites or services that we do not control.
Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
  • Account and Profile: name, email, phone number, profile photo, OAuth identifiers (Google/Apple), and similar account metadata.
  • User Content: prompts, chats, notes, files, images, voice notes, and activity logs you choose to store in the Service. Content is encrypted for the user following our platform standards.
  • Device and Usage: device type, operating system, app version, and basic usage information. We use Firebase for error logging and diagnostics.
  • Payments: subscription details processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers; Stripe processes payment information on our behalf.
  • Cookies/Local Storage: essential cookies or local caches to keep you signed in, improve performance, and speed up loading; no advertising trackers.
  • Sensitive Information: while we do not require sensitive information (e.g., health, financial, biometric, or government IDs), you may submit such information in your content at your discretion, similar to a notes app.
How We Use Information
  • Provide and operate the Service, including authentication, account management, and core features like context building and retrieval.
  • AI-assisted functionality, including sending your prompts/content to third‑party AI model providers with logging disabled to generate outputs.
  • Performance, safety, and reliability, including diagnostics, error logging (Firebase), preventing fraud or abuse, and maintaining security.
  • Communications about updates, security alerts, and support.
  • Compliance with applicable laws, enforce our Terms, and protect our legal rights.
AI and Model Providers
We may use third‑party AI APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or others). Providers may change over time. We require logging to be disabled where supported and do not permit providers to use your content to train their models. We do not use your data to train our own models.
Legal Bases
Where applicable (e.g., EU/UK), we rely on various legal bases: consent (e.g., when you submit content), performance of a contract (to provide the Service), legitimate interests (e.g., to secure and improve the Service), and compliance with legal obligations.
How We Share Information
  • Service Providers/Processors: including hosting and database (Firebase, USA), payment processing (Stripe), authentication providers (Google/Apple), and AI model providers.
  • Diagnostics and Security: Firebase error logging and similar services for reliability and safety.
  • Legal and Safety: to comply with law or protect rights, safety, and security.
  • Business Transfers: in connection with mergers, acquisitions, or asset sales.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States (e.g., Firebase hosting). Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as contractual commitments) to protect your information across borders.
Security
We employ safeguards including encryption in transit and at rest consistent with platform capabilities (e.g., Firebase standards). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Data Retention
By default, we retain account information and user content until you request deletion or your account is terminated. Diagnostic logs are retained as needed for reliability and security. Local caches are ephemeral.
Your Rights
  • Canada (PIPEDA): you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
  • EU/UK (where applicable): you may have rights to access, rectify, delete, restrict or object to processing, data portability, and to withdraw consent.
  • California: we do not sell your personal information; you may request access and deletion, subject to exceptions.

Children
The Service is intended for individuals aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact hello@withopine.com.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use essential cookies and local storage to operate the Service (e.g., session management, caching). We do not use advertising trackers. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling certain cookies may affect functionality.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes payment information subject to its own privacy policy. We receive limited billing metadata and do not store full payment card numbers.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice (e.g., by updating the date, in‑app notice, or email). Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
